Your Domain, your details

What happens to your Domain and your details when you share them with Queer Domains, in plain words.

Who we are

Queer Domains is an independent, community-made archive. For any question or request, write to archive@queerdomains.org.

Your Domain stays yours

You keep the copyright in everything you share. By sharing, you let Queer Domains store and show your Domain on this website until you ask us to take it down. We will never sell it or use it for adverts.

If you ask us to remove your Domain, we take it down from the site. We can’t call back copies that visitors may already have saved.

What we keep

Why

To show your Domain, credit you the way you choose, get in touch about it, and remember that you said yes. Being part of a queer archive can say something personal about you, so we only use your details because you agreed to it, and you can change your mind at any time.

Who sees what

Everyone can see your Domain and the credit you chose. Only we can see your email and your consent note. The website and its files are hosted by Cloudflare and our email runs on Zoho; they look after the data for us and can’t use it for anything else. We keep it in the UK or Europe wherever we can, and we never sell or share your details.

How long we keep it

Your Domain stays as long as you want it in the archive. If you ask us to remove it, or we can’t include it, we delete the files and your email within 30 days. We keep a short note that you agreed and that you asked for removal for one year, then delete that too.

Your choices

You can ask to see what we hold about you, correct it, change how you’re credited, or have everything deleted. Just write to archive@queerdomains.org and we’ll reply within a month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your details, you can also contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Little things in your browser

We don’t use tracking cookies or analytics. Your browser only remembers small things on your own device, like whether you prefer List View, and Rainbow or Grey.

When you share a Domain, Cloudflare runs a quick check (called Turnstile) to make sure you’re a person and not a spam bot. It isn’t used for adverts or to follow you around the web.

The small print

The boring but important bits, kept short:
